Golden Rules for TPM #01: Creating a Comfortable Workplace

TPM Golden Rules

Is your workplace a comfortable place to work? Through TPM activities, you can improve problems in the workplace and change it into a vibrant workplace where people can work easily and safely.

Is our workplace really comfortable to work in?

We spend more than one-third of our day at work. Is our workplace a comfortable environment to work?

Are you troubled by unstable equipment, with issues such as "frequent breakdowns," "time-consuming restoration work because of frequent short stoppages," or "frequent defects, which often delay work?"

In terms of operation, do you have problems with Muri (overburden), Muda (waste) and Mura (unevenness) for cases such as "difficult operation left unaddressed," "too much walking around causing inefficient work," "physical fatigue due to too much heavy physical work," "too much duplication of operation and effort, resulting in a lot of Muda?

In terms of the work environment, are you troubled by unsafe workplaces where "oil or powder is spilled on the floor and you sometimes slip," or "you almost get your hand caught in equipment and feel scared?

Creating a Good Workplace

TPM makes your work easier

If the problems mentioned earlier are eliminated, work will become much easier and the workplace will become more comfortable. TPM is something we would recommend to put into practice in order to solve problems at the workplace together. TPM has been introduced and practiced in many factories as a mechanism for improving production sites and developing human resources (self-growth).

First-timers may worry that it will be a burden apart from their work. It is true that solving problems requires energy, but no one would want to work in a workplace where problems are left unaddressed.

For those whose job is manufacturing, it is also their job to improve their facilities and work environment. Why not use TPM to free yourself from a situation where you are always pressed for time, to make your work easier, and to progress Kaizen?

Let's make your work easier with TPM!
